Its been quite some time since I authored a post...far too long in my opinion. As one might guess, this also means I haven't made much progress on my truck. Like everyone else, I get pulled multiple directions and often have to side-line projects to meet obligations. There isn't a person on the planet who can't identify with this...so please don't interpret this post as me saying "I'm the only person who is busy and has multiple obligations/responsibilities." Cuz that ain't what I'm sayin'!
Time is tricky...sometimes you don't have nearly enough and other times it seems to move WAY too slow (like when your wife forces you to watch Project Runway). As most people will probably recognize, the painting at the top of this post is "The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dali (forgive me, I can't figure out how to get the accent mark directly over the "i" in Dali). Dali painted this in 1931 and it is generally considered one of his most popular and important pieces. According to the omniscient and infallible Wikipedia, this work's general interpretation is that "the soft watches are a rejection of the assumption that time is rigid or deterministic." Hmmm, okay...maybe so. But if you ask me those watches look tired!
Back in college, I bought a poster print of this painting and hung it above my desk--I would often gaze at it bleary-eyed at 3 a.m. while studying. I distinctly recall being half asleep while staring at those clocks and feeling as tired and floppy as those clocks looked.
Stock photo alert! Although this is not an actual photo of me, I am pretty sure I caught several hours of sleep using this technique during college |
So to make a long story short, I haven't done jack on my truck since my last post. Believe me, no one is more bummed about this than I. The last few weeks have just been insanely crazy at work and I also was recently out of town visiting my Mom and picking up yet another thing that demands my time: a puppy:
Buckley S. Myers |
So needless to say, I haven't had an uninterrupted night of sleep since we brought Buckley home. Its almost like having an infant in the house again...which I suppose is good practice since we are expecting our second child in April. Yup, that's right...my sperm has worked not once, but twice now!!! I figured what better way to see if my friends and family are actually reading my blog than to make this announcement here. Now before you go laughing and pointing fingers, I'd like to clarify that this WAS planned (quite meticulously I might add). Michelle and I both want Cecilia to have a sibling and decided we needed a little extra chaos in our lives. Hmmm, too bad there isn't a "sarcasm" font--would have gone great on the second part of the last sentence (maybe I should patent that). Truthfully, though, we are both happy and keeping our fingers crossed everything goes well.
Again, another stock image. Michelle's belly is still "undercover pregnant" size
So in the context of a busy job, travel, new puppy, and pregnant wife, Fry-Pan had to be sidelined for a few weeks...but have no fear, I'm going to get back on it next weekend and see if I can't make some more progress.
I'm sorry.

DeleteCongrats on the news and good luck! No truck is complete without a dog to ride around in the back, now if you could teach him to fetch socket wrenches....
